Not sure about Miami area - but if you're willing to drive a bit north to Palm Beach county - at this time of year Wakodahatchee Wetlands in Boynton Beach is amazing - maybe unbeatable - for birds flying around if you go late in the day, 4:30pm until 5:30pm. There are many hundreds of birds that roost there for the night, so the skies will fill with hundreds, even thousands, of wading birds. White and glossy ibis, great and little blue heron, cattle, great, and snowy egret, tricolor heron, cormorant and anhinga, black-bellied whistling ducks, wood storks - all in the dozens, and some in the hundreds (ibis especially). Other birds may also be mixed in - there are times the skies are entirely filled from horizon to horizon with birds streaming in from all sides. Quite a magnificent scene.
