Thanks for the reply Bill. Jared Guerra and I arrived at Shark Valley yesterday at 1:30pm but had to wait under cover until 2:00pm to even start hiking because of a severe thunderstorm in the area. The visitor center lost power and everything! When the rain died down enough we headed south along the eastern road but the weather picked up again and we ended up leaving at 3:20pm. Never relocated the bird but did not have the opportunity to bird the western side of the loop.
