About a dozen birders showed up at AD Barnes Park for the initial Sunday walk for fall. Although skies threatened, the rain basically stayed away. Although migrant diversity was low, there were enough warblers to keep things interesting for most of the morning. Red-eyed Vireos and Prairie Warblers were most numerous, but we also had B&W, Yellow-throated, Black-throated Blue, Northern Parula, Ovenbird, and Redstart. In the nature trails we also heard a waterthrush, but could not locate it. Near homeless hammock we had a FOTS Yellow-throated Vireo, plus 2 flocks of Laughing Gulls flying over, as well as a small noisy flock of Mitred Parakeets.

We had some good looks at several White-crowned Pigeons, and a family of Cooper's Hawks (4 in all) drew appreciation near the Nature Center. After the walk, but before everyone had left, Jack found an Eastern Kingbird along the park road that a few of us got on to end the morning.

Hope to see everyone on the next Barnes walk in October!
