The Purple Martin roosting site continues at the Dadeland Shopping Mall just west of U.S. 1. It can best be seen from the Kendall Drive side opposite an entrance to Burdine's. IMO the numbers are holding at ~2,000 martins flying overhead, landing in a few of the 'few' remaining larger trees; then flying more and landing again. An accountant accompanying me feels my estimate of ~2,000 to be much too low. The birds begin arriving by 8 PM and reach a peak by 8:30 PM. Jill
