Those days are probably in the same place as the days of 25 swordfish or 100 kingfish in one morning - the past. I think there's been a shift in the management of the fields. The last few years have seen more fields in sugar cane and fewer flooded fields. I didn't go last year, but I read reports of days where there was no flooded field to be found. We also don't have access to all the areas, compounding the difficulties for birders. Time to recognize another extinct species: shorebird habitat.
