I came home tonight to my house in South Miami and there was a small owl near my front door. Approx. 6"-8" in size with brown feathers and yellow eyes. It flew from my garden flag into a small tree near my car and sat there for about 20 minutes. I was able to photograph it on my iPhone using no flash, but the best pictures I got were by keeping my high beams on and actually getting out of the car. I was able to get about 4' away from it when I took the photo. I *think* it's a Screech Owl ("brown morph") from what I've seen on-line, but given it's small size realize it could be a burrowing owl as well -- welcome any better identification and sorry the picture isn't better.
