HI Folks,
I was in Miami Springs lately, observing a flock of Mitred parakeets. I was struck, as many times before, by the variability in red feathering on the head. I have often wondered how do you seperate a Green parakeet from a juvenile Mitred or Red-masked. A few of the birds in this flock, and others observed in the past, had virtually no red on them. I have a fair amount of experience with Mitred and Red-masked parakeets, although they still throw me for a loop if it's been awhile, but i am not sure if I have ever seen Green parakeet in Florida or how to ID them with confidence. I hope to get some pointers from some of the more experienced parrot watchers on south Florida.
Thanks,
David
