: Last week (Feb 10) at Matheson Hammock picnic area, at the end of the park near the Fairchild garden parking lot (near the water), I found a lively spot with a couple of northern parulas and a black-throated blue warbler. I larger bird flew in, and I got a frustratingly short look (1-2 seconds) of what I think was a mangrove cuckoo. It had the facial pattern of the mangrove cuckoo, and a white breast, and as it flew off (low over the water) had the shape of a cuckoo. It also gave a crow-like gutteral "gau" call- is there any other bird that would make that sort of call? Any other possible candidates for this bird? One other thing- the warblers took off when the cuckoo arrived- it looked like they didn't want anything to do with him... Can I add him to the list?

: I would also like to thank Jeff Weber for his birding walk in the Everglades- as an out-of-towner, it was great to bird in Florida with the pros!
