This post is late due to a computer glitch at home, but while on a leisurely sail to Soldier Key last Thursday, February 9, 2006, Troy and I spotted a pair of (uncommonly?) Common Loons on the waters of Biscayne Bay sporting their wintage plummage. They sat on top of the water for about 20-30 seconds in front of the port side of our boat before diving under. They popped up again behind us about 30 feet from the stern one calling to the other - that lovely melancholy cry of the Loon. We did spot another loon about 15-20 minutes later, but I don't know if was actually a third loon or one of the original pair.
