Susan McKemy and I had a Smooth-billed Ani on Sunday, at Torry Island, Belle Glade. The Ani was about a mile off the main road to the campground, on the one-lane dirt track going north on the island. We saw the bird as the track makes its first bend to the left (west). While I thought the bird could be the lone Ani seen off-and-on for several years throughout the island, it was suggested this could be a younger bird, based on the plumage. Susan will be posting photos.
Corey Callaghan, and possibly others, tried for the bird today. I know Corey did not find the bird.
The one-lane track going north was pretty rough, and muddy in spots. High clearance vehicle advised.
