As Neotropic Cormorant continues to expand its range, we expect to see the species with more regularity. With birds to our north and the occasional bird to our south, what makes us think they are absent in Miami-Dade Co.?
We propose a rarity roundup. Its quite simple, set a day or two, gather birders and choose the best possible habitats that would yield "rare birds". Bird these locations and see what we come up with. Even if no rare birds are discovered, we gain loads of Breeding Bird Atlas data and learn more about our home county. Friends in Cape May, NJ make this a regular thing and come up with all kinds of goodies.
