We monitored those orioles from March until last week. We followed the pair from the time we found the singing male while guiding Dorian Anderson (Biking for Birds) during the South Florida portion of his Biking Big Year. The young were branching and being fed mid April and as of May 5th., they had fledged and foraging on their own. We visited one of the homeowners last week and did not see the adults or the young. The homeowner has not seen the birds in almost two weeks.
The University of Miami has had a Spot-breasted Oriole that is usually seen or heard in the area of Stanford Drive. Parking is available at parking meters at the end of Stanford Dr. Bird the areas west and east of the meters, the oriole is usually near or in the Kapok Trees west of the meters. Also at this location you have the chance of seeing Scaly-headed Parrot as well as other parrots, parakeets and even macaws. Early morning or late afternoon have been best for most.
Good luck!
