I decided after 6 pm to see if there were any migrants still passing through. There were a few, including one very late palm warbler being most notable. As I was crossing the parking lot at No Name Harbor, the moon looked beautiful, and I walked up the adjacent grassy mound to look. Later, at 7:50 pm, as I walked back to the car, I heard the nighthawk. It flew over many times, calling. It sounded exactly like the 3rd and 4th recordings on the bird song site Xeno Canto: http://www.xeno-canto.org/species/Chordeiles-gundlachii. It flew northwest and stayed in that area for a while, occasionally hovering and calling. About 2 weeks ago at the same time I was there, and saw as well as heard common nighthawks.
