Mariel and I birded Enchanted Forest Park in North Miami Beach on Saturday afternoon. As soon as it looked like it would stop raining we headed out the door. When we arrived, we found the park busy with migrants, the most abundant by far, American Redstart. Our best bird of the afternoon was also one of our last birds, a Connecticut Warbler just west of the horse stables. An unexpected find was an Eastern Wood-Pewee calling right behind the kids garden project.

Here is a list of what migrants we saw:

1 Yellow-billed Cuckoo
1 Chimney Swift
1 Eastern Wood-Pewee --unexpected find
3 Purple Martin
1 Tennessee Warbler
17 Northern Parula
1 Magnolia Warbler
35 Cape May Warbler -- Adult males numerous
21 Black-throated Blue Warbler -- 50/50 male, female ratio
2 Prairie Warbler
2 Palm Warbler (Western)
33 Blackpoll Warbler -- adult males numerous
11 Black-and-white Warbler
75 American Redstart -- Conservative count. Adult males were numerous, a few first spring "splotchy" males. Sightings of AMRE were most abundant in Oak dominated hammock on the west side of the park.
3 Worm-eating Warbler
2 Ovenbird
2 Northern Waterthrush
1 Connecticut Warbler --just west of horse stables on the north side working the understory.
43 Common Yellowthroat -- 10 or so just at the flower patch next to dumpster. Many COYE seen feeding high in trees!
1 Scarlet Tanager
2 Indigo Bunting

Nature is Awesome
