Birch State Park and Evergreen Cemetery Walk

As previously mentioned in an earlier post, Paddy Cunningham wasn t able to lead today s scheduled walk at Hugh Taylor Birch State Park and Evergreen Cemetery so she asked if I could step in and lead the group. Feeling the pressure to produce as a first time leader I scouted out Birch SP on Tuesday and Wednesday and had a total of 3 individual warblers for both days COMBINED. Needless to stay that didn t help me feel confident about leading this trip, but a saw a light at the end of the tunnel when I read Angel and Mariel s weather post this morning. While it was still slow today, we did produce some migrants.

Eight birders joined me this morning at Birch State Park and then three followed me to Evergreen Cemetery. The highlights were a very vocal Veery at Birch SP, Rose-breasted Grosbeak at Evergreen and 8 warbler species for the day.
