This morning Gary and I went to Biscayne National first to try for the Mangrove Cuckoos reported there. They were a no-show - but it was really nice to see the TAS Dry Tortugas team while there.

We decided to try Blackpoint for the Cuckoo. After driving through the parking lot past the canoe launch and around the circle at the end, still nothing. Right as we came back up the parking lot, just past the canoe launch, there's a Mangrove cuckoo sitting on a snag looking very bedraggled from the earlier rain! Judd Patterson showed up, and while watching the first Cuckoo, a second Mangrove Cuckoo shows up and promptly mates with the first one! They both stayed around in sight and calling for a while. This was around 9:00 a.m.

We also had Chimney Swifts and Common Nighthawks flying around, and an immature Yellow-crowned Night Heron walking along the edge of the road.

We stopped by Cutler Wetlands which had a Bronzed Cowbird on a wire to greet us right as we parked. Not bad for a morning that started out rather dreary!
