I spent last weekend in the southern end of Everglades National Park camping at Flamingo. There was a small flock of American Avocets at Eco Pond keeping the Black-necked Stilts company. There were plenty of Swallow-tailed Kites around but there weren t many migrant landbirds, but along with the more common warblers there were a couple of Scarlet Tanagers and Rose Breasted Grosbeaks along with a Wood Thrush and Least Flycatcher. Cape Sable Seaside Sparrows were singing in the prairie south of Mahogany Hammock and a bonus on that morning was a Black Rail calling near the road.
