My suggestion that people keep an eye out for hummingbirds in urban areas in late spring and early summer was meant to encourage people to be observant and not assume every bird they see is a Ruby-throated.
Not everyone knows that Ruby-throated Hummingbird is a mostly migratory or wintering species in urban southeast Florida. People will assume that any hummingbird they see in the summer will be the default Ruby-throated -- thus, not important. We want them to report summer hummingbirds. They are all good records!
