Yesterday afternoon a grackle-like bird flew by me and landed in the ficus retusa tree in front of 777 Brickell Avenue. As it passed I could see a rufous patch in the wings. It landed on a branch very close. I had my binoculars on me (!). A great look showed a bird just like the one in the image at http://www.naturephoto-cz.com/photos/mraz/red-winged-starling-05a08044.jpg. I don't think it is the very similar chestnut-winged starling. They are common in many East and south African cities.
