I am running a bird banding project this spring at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Gardens as part of my PhD project. The banding site is located in the keys coastal area in the garden and open to the public. We are working there every morning until about noon. This is a great way to learn about bird migration and how it is studied as well as identifying species as you can see them close up. It is a nice experience for both adults and kids.
Please do not walk in the net lanes on your own, as this would make our data less reliable. If it is not too busy the banders can take small groups of people on the net checks and show how the birds get caught. The project will be running until mid May.
