Visiting South Florida from up north, had a few (I think) good birds and maybe a few questions. 4/16 at the Flamingo Visitors' Center was a flock of Brown-Headed Cowbirds (30+), six Starlings, and at least two Shiny Cowbirds. Had four Limpkins on the Shark Valley tram on 4/17.
Also had a few questions on observations. I do not want to send anyone on a fruitless chase but at the Miami Airport, north side from 36th St I saw two birds that looked like Scissor-Tailed Flycatchers. They flew up when a plane flew near them and had tails as long as their bodies. Obviously, could not get too close.
A flock of waterfowl that was in a distant coastal pond near Flamingo reminded me of Brant, but they seem out of place there. Again, unable to get too close but there were about 20 of them.
Near Ha-Pay-Okee Hammock (pardon my spelling) a little brown job flew up from the grass into a thicket. I could not relocate it, but it had white outer tail feathers. Up north, I would probably call it a female junco, but what sparrows and ilk have white outer tail feathers in the Everglades?
