Recent Reports
Neotropic Cormorant
Wakodahatchee Wetlands, Delray Beach, Palm Beach County: Last reported April 12 (eBird)
Directions: From Florida's Turnpike, exit at Atlantic Avenue (exit 81). Drive east 1.7 miles to Jog Road. Turn left and drive north 1.5 miles to the entrance (no fee, open sunrise to sunset). Several birds, some possible hybrids, are present at rookeries along the boardwalk. A Virginia Rail was photographed along the boardwalk April 2 (eBird)
MacGillivray s Warbler
Riverbend Park, Jupiter, Palm Beach County: Last reported April 11 (eBird)
Directions: From I-95 in Jupiter, exit at Indiantown Road (Rt 706, Exit 87). From Florida s Turnpike, use Exit 116. The park entrance is on the south side of Indiantown Road, just west of Florida s Turnpike. From the entrance, drive south to the parking area for the Picnic Island trailhead. Walk this trail to the intersection with the West Equestrian loop trail, located immediately after crossing the second of two bridges. Turn left and walk south to where a lake becomes visible. The bird has been seen about 100 yards farther down the trail, in an area of oaks, cabbage palms and brushy understory on the left where a narrow channel connects with the lake. Eurasian Wigeon
Cape Coral, Lee County: Last reported April 10 (eBird)
Directions: From US 41 in Cape Coral, drive west about 2 miles on Pine Island Road (SR 78) to Del Prado Blvd. Turn right and drive north about 0.3 miles to NE 10 Lane. The bird has been seen in a pond at the northwest corner of this intersection.
Common Eider
Causeway Islands Park, Sanibel Causeway, Lee County: Last reported April 8 (eBird)
Directions: From I-75 in Ft. Myers, take Alico Road (CR 840, Exit 128) west 3.6 miles to US 41 (Tamiami Trail). Turn right and drive north 2.7 miles to Gladiolus Drive (CR 865). Turn left and drive west 1.2 miles to Summerlin Road (CR 869). Turn left (flyover) and drive west 8 miles to the Sanibel toll plaza. The park is along the causeway beyond the toll plaza. The bird was last seen along the mainland end of the causeway.
Yellow-headed Blackbird
Sen-Chi Rice Plant, Palm Beach County: Last reported April 8 (eBird)
Directions: From Florida s Turnpike in West Palm Beach, exit at Southern Boulevard/SR 80. Drive west 13.5 miles to CR 880. Turn left and drive west 4 miles to the Sem Chi entrance road. Turn left and drive 0.7 miles to the rice plant. Six birds were seen among blackbirds and cowbirds feeding behind the rice plant.
La Sagra s Flycatcher
Dagny Johnson Key Largo Hammock Botanical State Park, Monroe County: Reported April 7 (eBird)
Directions: From the intersection of Florida's Turnpike and US 1 in Florida City, drive south 21 miles on US 1 to CR 905. Turn left and drive north 0.4 miles to the parking area (fee,open 8:00 AM until sunset). The bird was seen on the northeast side of the loop trail, about 0.25 miles southeast of the sign marking the shortcut to the other side of the loop.
Bell s Vireo
Markham Park, Broward County: Reported April 7 (TAS BirdBoard)
Directions: From I-595, exit at 136 Street (exit 1A). Drive west 2.0 miles on SR 84 (which parallels I-595) to the park entrance (fee on weekends, open 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM). Turn left at the first intersection after the entrance station and drive west 0.1 mile to the nature trail parking area on the left. The bird was seen along the nature trail in a brushy area marked by a bench near a Gumbo Limbo tree.

La Sagra s Flycatcher
Matheson Hammock County Park, Miami-Dade County: Last reported March 31 (eBird)
Directions: From US 1 in Pinecrest, drive east 2.4 miles on North Kendall Drive (SW 88 Street) to Old Cutler Road. Turn right and drive south 0.8 miles to the park s south entrance, adjacent to Fairchild Tropical Botanical Gardens. The bird has been seen anywhere from the south end of the pond that is east of the parking area to near the bathrooms north of the parking area.
Cassin s Kingbird
Homestead, Miami-Dade County: Last reported March 31 (eBird)
Directions: From the intersection of Florida's Turnpike and US 1 in Florida City, turn right on Palm Drive (SW 344 Street) and drive west 2.5 miles to SW 202 Avenue. Turn right and drive north 1 mile to SW 328 Street (unpaved). Turn left and drive west 0.2 miles to a stand of bamboo on the south side of SW 328 Street The bird roosts with Western Kingbirds and Scissor-tailed Flycatchers in the bamboo stand and perches on the wires in this area. During the day, the birds have been seen in trees on the west side of the home of Larry Manfredi, at 20313 SW 322 Street. Shiny Cowbirds frequent the feeders in his yard.
