John, crocs (and gators) are more winter and spring baskers. When the water warms up they spend most of their time submerged. The fairchild critter would not be a captive, they have infested pretty much any availible habitat below the freeze line. The winters of 09-10 and 10-11 were brutal on crocs, and kind of restored a nice balance to the population.
