I had a Bell's Vireo this morning at Markham Park. I wasn't too surprised as the nature trail has good vireo habitat and a Bell's wintered there last year in the same general area. Could possibly be the same bird. If the bird sticks around a bit longer, it's a nice view and photo op. Take the nature trail west to where there is a bench on the left, right under a gumbo limbo tree. That's where it feeds but it's about third in the pecking order after the Gray Catbirds and a White-eyed Vireo. But it will go to the tree. Otherwise, it's in the heavy brush around the tree. The best bet is to wait for it or listen for a scold call. Otherwise the birding has been painfully slow. Except for Larry's back yard, of course.
