I walked the lowlands area of Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden for about an hour to see where the banding station's mist nets were, look at plants and do a little birding. In and around the mangroves there were 2 male prairie warblers, 2 female palm warblers, 3 gray catbirds, that were singing their low pitched song instead of the typical catlike call, 3 red-bellied woodpeckers, 4 northern cardinals, 3 turkey vultures, 2 fish crows and 1 yellow-rumped warbler in the staff and volunteer parking lot. One pair of Northern Cardinal was attacking a grey squirrel with enough intensity to make it jump from a tall palm to the frond of a much shorter palm. I also posted my list to eBird Checklist S17756425.
