Just in case you somehow missed the big, bold banner that appears at the top of the BirdBoard, the TAS Birdathon begins on Saturday, April 12 and runs through Sunday, April 27. This annual event provides an opportunity for the local birding community to support TAS's advocacy and conservation efforts. For Birdathon rules, prizes and pledge forms, simply click on the link above the banner.

While I'm not eligible to win either of the big Birdathon prizes, I still plan to support the Birdathon by offering to lead a special Birdathon carpool trip on Sunday, April 13 (there is no longer a TAS trip scheduled on that date). It will be an all-day trip to see as many species of birds as possible. Anyone who wants to participate must agree to support the Birdathon by making a generous donation or by soliciting pledges from friends, relatives, co-workers, etc. No minimum amount required. To participate, simply email me your intention to join me, along with your donation/pledge goal, by Friday, April 11. I'll email you the trip meeting place, time and other details. Should we see more birds on this trip than any other Birdathon participant or team, the trip participant raising the most money can attend, free of charge, next January's four-day TAS van trip to Florida's Panhandle. If that participant also raises more money than any other Birdathoner, they will also be able to attend, free of charge, the 2015 TAS three-day van trip to Florida's Keys and the Dry Tortugas!

Even if you can't join me on April 13, I encourage everyone to participate in this year's Birdathon, either individually or as a team. Let's show our appreciation for everything that TAS does for birds and birders by supporting the Birdathon!
