Stopped by Dump Marsh early this morning....I was surprised to see, among all the Blue-winged Teal and Mottled Ducks, a female Northern Shoveler and 4 American Wigeon! A few shorebirds were here, too--a flock of 40 Least Sandpipers, 2 Greater Yellowlegs, 1 Lesser Yellowlegs, plus Killdeer and Black-necked Stilt.
Also seen were White Pelican, 3 Harriers, and a Merlin that amused itself by chasing and terrorizing any grackle that dared to land on the same dead tree on which it was perched.
