Jonathan Dickinson State Park in southeastern Martin County is likely the closest location for Florida Scrub-Jays and Red-headed Woodpeckers in southeastern Florida. On the large trail that runs from the end of the first campground (near the entrance), I saw several individuals of both of these species rather easily.

A visit to Boynton Beach Inlet on 3/22 offered looks at FOY Least Terns, three Bonaparte's Gulls, and a Spotted Eagle Ray.

Migrating passerines were present at a variety of locations in Palm Beach County this past weekend, but were mostly of the Caribbean influence (as Carlos noted in an earlier post). The strongest flying species that winter in South America, such as Least Terns, Common Nighthawks, Chimney Swifts and Eastern Kingbirds will be among the first migrants to show up within the next week or so, followed by the smaller passerines.
