Just counting along one long stretch of exposed mud at Chiang Saen Lake in northern Thailand had 70+ Purple Swamphens all standing out in the open.
In Australia, every pond, ditch, and puddle seemed to have at least some resident swamphens -- some of which would be very tame and wander out on the lawns such as at the Wollongong Botanic Gardens.
Bobcats and Raccoons would make great swamphen predators if they weren't all being eaten by Burmese Pythons...
