We have had a couple of Western Kingbirds in our yard and a Scissor-tailed Flycatcher which was a new yard bird! I have seen those birds for about a week or two. On Saturday morning the flood gates opened and I counted no less then 24-Western Kingbirds and two Scissor-tailed Flycatchers. I just happened to be talking with Toe early on Saturday morning telling him about all of the kingbirds when up popped a Cassin's Kingbird! Talk about a good yard bird, that sure was a nice surprise! I had a very brief look at the bird so after talking to Toe, I went out with the camera to look for it. I could not find it and started wondering if I really did see a Cassin's Kingbird! I looked the rest of the day and saw some Western Kingbirds. I took my big camera lens and tripod and parked myself and a lawn chair for about two hours hoping the Cassin's Kingbird would show up. After seeing many Western Kingbirds and a couple of Scissor-tailed Flycatchers the darn Cassin's Kingbird flew in to give me good looks and a decent photo! It sure was nice to confirm what I thought that I saw!

If anyone is interested in trying for the bird, you are welcomed to come by. Our address is: 20313 s.w. 322 st. Homestead

The bird seems to be easiest to find from about 7:30-8:30 a.m. and then from about 4:30-5:30 p.m. We saw it this morning but it was pretty far north of our house in an area that I can't explain how to get to.

If you come, park on the grass left of my driveway. If you look at the front of my house, walk to the street on your left and walk north. There are some fruiting Gumbo Limbo trees next to the street along the west side of my property. The birds have been seen in this area.
