I build my own cages using 1'x1' mesh. make 2'x2' openings. Then use wire (an inverted V in the 2x2)to tune the size of the opening. A sparow skinny red-winged will push in but rarely. Lots of feeders lets the shy ones move easily. I have 4 caged, 2 split hoppers and 3 small hoppers spaced around the house. The birdbath/mister brings them to one spot.
