Today, Saturday, June 15, 2002 between 9 and 11:30 a.m., Kevin Sarsfield, Juan Villamil and I birded the farm fields around the Homestead Motorsports Complex.

A flock of 7 White-rumped Sandpipers continue to linger in the area. The fields are located around the intersection of SW 328th St. and SW 137th Ave(Speedway Boulevard), which is a Florida Turnpike exit.

Drive the dirt roads between the fields. Other species of shorebirds seen were Black-necked Stilts, Kildeer, Semipalmated Sandpiper, Black-bellied and Semipalmated Plovers and Ruddy Turnstone. White-crowned Pigeon and Gray Kingbird were also in the area.

Life is good.............knowing that a Baird's or Curlew Sandpiper are eventually going to pop up at this little hotspot.
