MINWR-For those who might be heading up to Merrit Island this week, we saw a Snow Goose with a group of Am. Coots on the Peacock Pond trail. On the Gator Creek road going back towards the main road, I observed an American Pipit. A male Canvasback was seen along the main road in the north ponds just before the entrance to the wildlife drive. A rare winter Black-necked Stilt was observed on the mudflats just before you head north towards the observation tower. A nice mixed flock of warblers, vireos and a Ruby-crowned Kinglet was seen at the Oak Hammock trail around 8:00 a.m.
Zellwood-as of 1/14 the Fork-tailed Flycatcher was still being seen, along with many Scissor-tailed Flycatchers and Western Kingbirds. We observed it along the north fenceline around 5:45 p.m. flying back and forth to a Fig along the west fence. The Ash-throated Flycatcher hadn't been seen for a few days.
Jetty Park-Common Loons were observed in the cut and the ocean. Greater Black-backed Gulls were observed floating in the cut and on the beach. A Horned Grebe was observed on the south side of the causeway, but in a busy area for pulling over.
Good Luck Birding!!!
