But, Bill, have you considered the following scenario:

El Nino caused the prevailing winds in South America to switch into the SW scooping up the birds and depositing them in northern Venezuela.

Then Hurricane Wilma sucked them up and dropped them on Florida's southwest coast, where they lived in obscurity for years.

Finally, this year's Polar Vortex, in conjunction with the active Aurora Borealis, caused a rift in the space-time continuum resulting in their appearance at Dump Marsh.

Just a thought. :-)
