While bop king Charlie "Yardbird" Parker blew "Confirmation" though my ear buds this morning, I also got a new yard bird: Ruby-crowned Kinglet. Jumping around in low bushes and flycatching from the grass, it drew my attention by looking at first glance like a Winter Wren. Earlier this week, another new yard bird for me was a sub-adult male Red-breasted Merganser in the C-100 canal behind my house. Nice.
