Spent a few hours exploring the Shark Valley entrance to Everglades National Park this morning. Wading birds such as storks, herons, and ibis were very well represented and offered fantastic photo opportunities for those interested.
King Rail and Sora were both heard. One Sora even allowed nice views.
Among the passerines, Great Crested Flycatcher, White-eyed Vireo, and Carolina Wren were all common by voice. Warblers included Orange-crowned Warbler, Northern Parula, American Redstart, Black-and-white Warbler, and Prairie Warbler along with the usual Palm and Yellow-rumped Warblers.
Finally, six Western Kingbirds were on the wires just outside the entrance to Shark Valley. A brief visit to the abandoned airboat concession stand near the Miccosukee Village yielded distant views of Snail Kite and Limpkin.
