I'm sure the reason Larry imbeded the images in the comment section was to allow more than one photo with the post. I do this all time. I recently had a few complaints from those with dial up connections that it took forever for the page to load. I now am more careful to make the image file sizes smaller or use less images.
Imbeding the images doesn't save bandwith or time. It just allows more than one image, borders, bold text, etc. You do need space somewhere on the web to add images in this manner.
When you reply to a post, you can highlight the text in the comment box and backspace, this will remove the previous text from your comments.
