The House Finches have been in the Ft. Lauderdale area for several years. They were regular visitors to the yard of a friend who lives not far from the old Pier 66 for the past few years. It will certainly be interesting to see if they spread.

: I saw three House Finches in Ft. Lauderdale on December 28, two females and one male. The male is one of the orange/yellow variant forms. The birds were seen east of US1 about five blocks from Down Town Ft. Lauderdale. I took these photos across the street from a resident who said he was seeing them at his feeders. He called them "ugly sparrows"! It won't be long before they make down to Miami/Dade County, Alex are you looking?
