The most interesting birds seen during a visit to the A. R. M. Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge this Sunday were a fly by Cave Swallow over the impoundments and a Black-throated Green Warbler along the boardwalk. A River Otter put on a good show while hunting in the pond behind the visitor center. A Palamedes Swallowtail behind the visitor center was the best butterfly seen that day and the annoying little grass skippers and yellows were surprisingly absent along the impoundment trails. Odonata provided the most interesting sightings with Cyrano Darners patrolling over the visitor center parking area and Furtive Forktails lurking around the boardwalk while Florida Baskettails flew low over the canals along the marsh trails.
