MHOC is the Church, Mary Help of Christians. A cypress Hammock in the center of the 24 acres is a memorial Garden and meditation area. Within it are about 125 species of native trees, bushes, orchids, and ground covers. Also there is a bird and mammal population that is diverse, active, and growing. The site is at the intersection of Sawgrass Exp and University Drive on University Drive. Botany or birds, or just plain quietude, it is all available in the Garden. Last evening two of the four baby screech owls were very visible within the hammock (June 9). A covered tent is available in the event of rain. This is not a "Alice In wonderland" highly trimmed Garden. Native Floridian will find it reminiscent of the "way things ued to be", yet very accessible to those that want to stroll and meditate.
