The C-357 Sparrow Fields had plenty of sparrow and bunting activity today. Most of the birds are just before and after the second bend that turns 90 degrees more or less due south. Indigo Buntings were noticeably more abundant than usual. I had the following highlights in this area:

Savannah Sparrow
Grasshopper Sparrow (6)
Clay-colored Sparrow (6)
Lincoln's Sparrow
Swamp Sparrow (5)
Indigo Bunting (21)
Painted Bunting (2)

La Carreta on SW 40th St and 87th Avenue continues to host wintering Bronzed Cowbirds (sixth year in a row since 'discovery') -- nicknamed the 'Cortadito' Cowbirds. I counted 16 birds hiding under the cars in just a few minutes. Very tame and easy to photograph.
