I agree with Bill and also would note that the flight patterns of swallows doesn't lend itself well to the awkward positioning on a bird-feeder...maybe a fence line or telephone wires.
However, if you saw only the side of the towhee and presumed the russet went all around your sighting could well fit the towhee. If however you saw the bird full on frontal and it was all russet/red then forget towhee as the white midline would be tough to overlook. (Of course, it could be red all across considering I never saw a yellow cardinal until the pictures on this board this year.)
Towhees are generally ground feeders but in "old-Broward county" I had them at my bird feeders regularly, especially at dusk.
Separate thread: anyone even see towhees in Broward County anymore?
