After a long struggle (12 visits!!) I finally saw the Crested Caracara at the dump near Black Point Marina. On Saturday around 11:30AM I parked in the lot near the new bike crossing on SW 97th Ave and walked east on the path. The juvenile caracara was perched right next to the bike path on a dead tree. He stayed for a few minutes and then flew north across the canal into the water treatment area. There is also a Great-horned Owl that is either roosting (or nesting) in the royal palms next to the pond in this area. I've heard that owl on three different visits.
