I visited Pinetree Park this afternoon. A beautiful male Cape May- present since October- was there along with other expected birds. Around 5 pm, I checked out North Shore Open Space Park (79 to 86 street in Miami Beach). Despite the abundance of native plantlife, I've never found the place to be very birdy, especially compared to Pinetree. Today, however, I found a white-crowned pigeon gorging on gumbo limbo fruits there! Very close range, and quite oblivious... Not too much else of note, save for a merlin, kestrel, and a frigatebird in the short time there. This is the furtest north I've seen the pigeon. Kevin has seen it further down the beach a few times.
