A group of 27 birders saw 69 species on today's walk.
Highlights as follows:
Tall Cypress-8 species of warblers, including an organge-crowned, 5 species of woodpeckers, great horned owl (1-on nest, thanks to Bruce Pickholtz), capian tern (1-seen by a few in the group), summer tanager (1-seen by all thanks to Nick Decesare).
Hoechoka Hammock-Group enjoyed their gourmet picnic lunches, a selection of orchids, and a small mixed warbler/vireo flock.
Windmill Park--The group added brown pelican (1), 6 species of ducks, including ruddy duck (33) and small numbers of blue winged teal, lesser scauo and ringed-necked, spotted sandpiper (1-thanks to Nick and Steve).
Fern Forest--The group added house wren (1) and black-throated green warbler (1-kudos to Nick and Steve), and had great looks at two gopher tortoises.
