It was a cold and and rainy night. Oops, wrong analogy.

It was a cold and blustery morning.

22 hardy folk comfortably filled 7 cars on a quite chilly morning for the semi-monthly trip through STA-1E in Palm Beach County. While I, personally, started with multiple layers (and I added an addition layer before we even began), I was down to a long-sleeved t-shirt by the end of the trip.

It was too cold for any Grasshopper or Savannah Sparrows to present themselves at the beginning of our caravan. But we did pick up some Savannahs by the time we finished up.

We didn't see the Dog-Wolf that we had seen before (see the PBS Nature program 'Coy Wolf' on Wednesday night, 22-Jan-2014, at 8:00 pm) nor many LBJs (Little Brown Jobs) because of the wind and temps. But we did get quite a few great birds including (species count) 12 Ducks, 12 Raptors/Falcons, 12 Waders, 14 Shorebirds, and 5 Gulls/Terns. And a kettle of 30+ American White Pelicans.

I, again, thank Corey Callaghan for providing the complete list of our sightings. I might have come up with most of his sightings but they would have been an X's in my eBird list.

Rick
