The Common Eider was seen today at 6pm out of the water and preening on the north side of the new spoil island on the intracoastal side of the inlet. It is best viewed from the park at the inlet and a scope is needed. I was checking both sides of the inlet for an hour prior to the sighting but no sign of the Eider. So I suspect it flew straight in to its favored roost site close to sunset.

Seems to be a reliable spot. Good luck to those who try for it.

Mark
