I stopped by Castellow around 4:00 this afternoon after the Coot Bay count. I saw the Black-chinned being chased away from the red-flowering tree at the western end of the butterly garden (Chinese Hat Plant?). Saw at least 3 Adult Ruby-throats and another bird that I didn't get a good look at sine itt also got chased away by the male Ruby-throats that were jealously guarding the tree. These guys were perched on the tree and would only fly to chase the others when they got near. What bastards! I did get one chance to see the Adult Black-chinned perch and got good looks. Didn't see the juvenile, or at least I didn't notice it. Nice way to end the day, since it makes up for not seeing any Flamingoes at Snake Bight, kind of.
