About thirty minutes ago a Short-tailed Hawk (dark morph) was soaring over my home along with an Osprey in Miami Shores. Seen earlier this morning were White-winged Parakeets, Prairie Warbler and Spot-breasted Orioles (two). I was not able to relocate the Yellow-throated Vireo. Again in late morning the family went to Miami Beach to soak up the sun and swim. A first-winter Gret Black-backed Gull was hanging out with about thirty Laughing Gulls and about fifteen Ring-billed Gulls. A Magnificent Frigatebird was seen flying over the parkinglot at 79th street beach, and the Yellow-throated Warbler was heard in the same group of coconut trees with a palm warbler.
Have a happy and safe new years everybody.
Alex
