I was asked to lead a Bird Walk/Talk for the Holiday Camp for kids at Bill
Sadowski Park. The kids were great. They seemed very interested as I told them
how enjoyable it is to go bird watching. I ask them questions about birds they
have seen and like to see. They answered with great enthusiasm. I showed them
photos that I had taken at Bill Sadowski this year and then at 10 am this
morning we went looking for birds.
As a group we saw:
Cardinal
Blue Jay
Palm Warbler
Prairie Warbler
Yellow Rump
Great Crested Flycatcher
Eastern Wood Pewee
Blue-headed Vireo
Muscovy Ducks
Little Blue Heron
Great Egret
Spot-breasted Oriole
White Ibis
Mockingbird
Common Yellow Throat
Ruby Throated Hummingbird
and 100's of mostly Turkey Vultures and some Black Vultures moving to the SW in
a long line.
Mixed in were a couple of Swainson's hawks, Red-tailed Hawk and Short-tailed
hawk.
I probably wouldn't have seen this sight if I wouldn't have said yes to share
with the kids.
Thank you, Barbara and staff for inviting me to join you this morning.
